Genealogy Services

The Orthodox Genealogist connects families to encounter ancestors through DNA and genealogical research. I offer a free initial consult and an affordable hourly rate to help you connect to your family and encounter your ancestors.

The goal, philosophy, and mission for why I do family history research is found at the bottom of all of my blog posts:
My ancestors - and your ancestors - deserve the best researcher, the most passionate story-teller, and the dignity of being remembered. So let's keep encountering our ancestors through family history and remembering the past made present today!
One of the goals of this blog is to make family history and genealogy research a doable thing - less of a task and more of a passion.

But not everyone has the time or the experience to accomplish what certified or accredited professionals - or advanced researchers like myself - are able to accomplish.

With this in mind, I am available for hire for a variety of genealogy needs you may have:
  • Record Search - the Library of Virginia, as well as central and eastern VA courthouses
  • Family Tree development
  • DNA Analysis - interpretation of ethnicity results, DNA matches, etc.
  • Adoptee & Unknown Parentage cases
  • Lineage Society Application - assistance with DAR, SAR, etc. applications
Before I would accept a client, we would sit down together (or talk on the phone) regarding specific goals, hopes, and what limitations there may be to those goals. We would determine an initial number of hours of research, and at the conclusion of that number of hours, we would decide next steps.
  • Hourly rate: $50/hour
  • DNA consult: $75 - includes ethnicity estimate interpretation & initial DNA match sorting
If you are interested in hiring me for my genealogy services, please e-mail Sam Williams at orthodoxgenealogist@gmail.com.

I look forward to working with you, to help you encounter your ancestors through family history and to remember the past made present.
